We are getting ready for Janet’s opening. The paintings are looking so exotic and striking against rich spaces in the house, such as the chocolate coloured wall.

To see the paintings in such a setting, and adjacent to such a beautiful garden, really brings out the intense memories found in the work, and also, presents the viewer with new meanings.

We are really looking forward to hosting you. Let’s hope the weather stays great so we can hang out in the garden as well as the house.

If you need to find the opening, please type ‘Pelar Art Galleries Cornwall’ into Google Maps, and then select ‘The Sculpture Garden Lelant‎’.Chocolate coloured walls

Maybe not the exact match, but to help you imagine chocolate coloured walls!

Janet Goes to Taos II by Janet Lynch

We are very pleased to announce the private view of works by Janet Lynch.

All are invited and welcome to join us from 3pm till 7pm Saturday 22nd August 2009.

‘About nine months ago, just before Christmas 2008, I was visiting Janet Lynch at her studio. While she took a long phone call I started to poke around her studio and found this cache of 25 to 30 year old very private paintings that had never been shown before. The only thread of this work to be shown was at Coventry Cathedral, these were a series of political works, one of which was a black Madonna holding a dead baby. This particular painting was nearly seized by the police but was claimed by the now Canon of Coventry Cathedral who took the work home. This incident lead to Janet showing similar works at Coventry Cathedral.’ Paul Wingett

Paul’s find 9 months ago was faced by a very shy and unconvinced Janet Lynch, finally Janet gave permission to expose the work. This show is just part of the hoard found in Janet’s studio.

Enjoy this found treasure…

The setting for Janet Lynch’s work is the Sculpture Garden in Lelant, St Ives. Our premises in Lelant, St Ives, Cornwall are also home to our award-winning Sculpture Garden, which was established in 2006.
